How It Sounds, What It Means

Barriers of communication happens all the time, even among friends. What is said by person A can be taken wrongly by person B, for example. This is why correct pronunciation, voice tone and ways of saying the sentence out is very very impotent..eh, IMPORTANT, so that other people won't take it wrongly.

Examples:

person A: "Ngalih ku eh!"

person B: "Kuih ngalih?"

person A: "Yo, result (pronounced "rizal" bagi kebanyakan us Malays, Bruneians specifically) sudah keluar"

person B: "Siapa Rizal ani kan? Keluar dari mana ya?"

person A: "Yo, ada sigup?"

person B: "Si Gup ani siapa? Si Guptha ka?"

person A: "Silau eh!"

person B: "Siapa Si Lau ani kan? Mana ya?"

Even nouns or names can be transformed into a sentence depending on how you say it:

Laksamana College

"Laksa mana, Kolej?"- a person asking his friend named Kolej whether he has seen his missing laksa.

Ubi Kayu

"Ubi ka you?"- a person asking another person whether his/her name is Ubi.

R.O. stilled water

"R or still water?"- a person is made to make a choice between the letter R or still water.

Uni Arcade

"You ni Arcade?"- a person asking another person whether his/her name is Arcade.
